Zoom Counselling

What Is Zoom?

Zoom is a web-based video conferencing tool, which allows you to talk to people for free using a microphone and a webcam. Simply click on this link, www.zoom.us/signup, and signup for a free account. You will need a webcam, which allows face-to-face contact with the Therapist / Clinical Counsellor and helps to establish a trusting relationship. A headset contains both earphones and a microphone, and it helps to improve audio quality on calls and reduces echoes. Research indicates that the outcome for clients who have undertaken online counselling can be similar to those having a standard therapy session in person.

Zoom Sessions

Even though Zoom Counselling is different from in office sessions, we treat the therapeutic process the same. We will identify specific targets and create goals so we can measure change. We will focus on creating a safe environment for your therapeutic process. The Therapist / Clinical Counsellor will try to identify the root causes of the various issues you are experiencing, so you are able to take control of your own life and walk in freedom.

Confidentiality:

The Therapist / Clinical Counsellor at the Door of Hope Counselling Clinic will speak to you from a private room, and the usual rules of confidentiality that is applied to an in person therapy session will be applied to the Online Counselling & Phone Counselling session.

Phone Counselling Tips

The following tips may be useful to make the most out of our phone counselling sessions:

  • Try to create a quiet and private space free of distractions during the session time.
  • If possible, use a head set with microphone so that you have your hands free (speaker phone is an option but might create an echo and may not work so well).
  • It would be a good idea to have some paper, a pen, and access to your email, so we can email attachments during our session.
  • If you have cell phones, please turn them off or set it in “silent mode.”

Online & Phone Counselling Fees

All Online, Phone, and Zoom Counselling sessions are based upon a pre-paid basis. No emergency calls with Zoom! Zoom is not a replacement for your telephone and cannot be used for emergency calling.
